NSS refers to "New South Student", which is a system used by the University to manage enrolments, financial data, and more. You will normally interact with it via MyUNSW. CSE regularly updates account information from NSS (into the UDB).Not to be confused with NSQ - New South Q, the old name for the UNSW Student Centre.
