Access to NCI
How CSE staff and students can register for an NCI account and get added to a project.
This is for your information only. For all support related to using NCI, please contact the NCI Helpdesk directly.
CSE participates in the resource allocation scheme (note that this allocation expires in September 2026), which is available to CSE staff and students. To gain access to NCI, please follow these steps:
1. Create an account
To register for an NCI user account, visit my.nci.org.au and complete the self-service registration process using your UNSW email address.
2. Create a new project
Once your NCI account is set up, log in to my.nci.org.au. On the left panel, select "Propose a Project." The details you enter are primarily for record-keeping purposes.
For HDR students: Please ask your supervisor to contact the ResTech team at restech.hpc.scheme@unsw.edu.au for available NCI credits. ResTech may have additional credits for academics, though free allocation may be limited.
For staff and other researchers: Contact ss@cse.unsw.edu.au for guidance on available contract options.
- Access the proposal page: Project Proposal
- Select an appropriate contract when creating your project proposal.
- Complete all subsequent steps and submit your proposal.
After submission, your request will be reviewed by CSE Admin for approval. Once approved, you will have the ability to invite additional members to join the project.
3. Invite members to an existing project
To add members to an approved project:
- Navigate to the NCI portal and select "Projects and Groups" from the left panel.
- Click on your project, then choose "Add Member" (note that invitees must already have an NCI user account).
