FAQ : Xerox ApeosPort printers and Windows Vista


Printing to the ApeosPort 450i printers from Vista

If you are running Windows Vista and you wish to print to the Apeos Port 450i printers (ni, san, shi and go), you will need to follow the instructions below:
  1. First of all you need the right driver. On http://www.fujixerox.com.au/, under "Support and Downloads", choose "Apeosport 450 I". On the right hand side of the page choose "Drivers and Downloads". From the "Operating System" drop down list choose "Windows Vista" and Download the "32bit PostScript Driver for Windows" and save it somewhere, as you will need to point to it soon.
  2. From Start go to Control Panel -> Printers and select Add Printer
  3. Choose Add a local printer
  4. Add Printer
  5. Choose Create a new port with type Local Port
  6. Local Printer
  7. Type \\samba.cse.unsw.edu.au\printername like the following for printer san
  8. Port Name
  9. Next step is to install the driver, from the list choose "FX ApeosPort 450 I PS". Click on "Have Disk ..." and choose the location where you saved the driver on step 1.
  10. Install Driver
  11. Type in a good name for it
  12. Printer Name
  13. And you are done.
  14. Test Page
  15. Finally you should authenticate against samba server to get the permission to print. Go to Start -> Run, and type \\samba.cse.unsw.edu.au\~YourHomeDirectory and enter your user CSE username and password.
