FAQ : Changing the toner in Xerox printers


Changing the toner in Xerox multifunction printers

Introduction

The Xerox multifnction devices will display two messages indicatig the amaount of toner present in the device.
  1. 'Toner Cartridge needs to be replaced' - indicates there are approximately 1000 pages left in the toner.
  2. 'Replace the Toner Cartridge' - needs no further explanation.
A spare toner cartridges is provided in the print room along side of the printer. Please leave any used toner cartridges in the room as any used toner cartridges are replaced on a weekly basis by stores whilst paper is distributed.

If there isn't any spare toner in the room please email printers@cse.unsw.edu.au.

Proceedure

  1. Make sure that the machine is not in use before opening the front cover. Step 1.
  2. Hold the bottom of the toner cartridge and slide it out of the machine. Step 2.
  3. Hold the toner cartridge by its handle and pull it out slowly. (be gentle) Step 3.
  4. Remove the new toner cartridge out of the box and shake it from side to side before removing it out of the bag.
  5. Hold the toner cartridge by its handle and slide it into the machine until it clicks in. Step 5.
  6. Close the front cover.
  7. Place the used toner cartridge into the empty box and leave it next to the printer.


Notes

  • Each toner cartridge has a capacity of approximately 30000 pages at 5% coverage.
